The dev that I mentioned earlier on didn't seem scared of steam early access either so I doubt that is a concern. If first impressions mattered that much to them, then what exactly is that epic early access? There weren't exactly worried that a bare bones alpha would have scared off potential buyers on epic did they? I think most people are understanding enough of something that comes with an "early access" tag, not to mention that a year of early access by then would mean a more advanced version available - something akin to a stable beta. I could be wrong in this case of course, but I know that is a factor when it comes to steam launches. If a game gets a "mostly negative" or such rating on a steam launch it is hard to recover. If It is good enough to continue selling on Epic as early access then surely it is in a good enough form for Steam's early access. It's not as if the state of the game would be so bad that BYG would suspend sales of the game on EPIC after reaching the 1 year mark until it reaches a "satisfactory" stage. I'm not saying that it has to be a full release after the 1 year mark and Addie did not rule out steam early access in that post either. While I understand the possibility of having to extend the development period, I don't see any reason why BYG can't do so while releasing on Steam as early access at the same time. Its really just a personally preference to have it on steam, but that said, this is looking like a day one purchase from me as soon as its out! That said, the game looks amazing from what I have seen on youtube and I cant wait to get my hands on it. Our intentions, if we even decide to delay, would be to bring the best possible version of the game to Steam that we can be proud of, and that you would enjoy playing! I want to make it very clear that staying in EA past the year mark on Epic isn't profitable for us at all. We are going to do our absolute best to keep to our schedule of coming to Steam one year after our Early Access launch, but if the game isn't in a state we're happy with for Steam yet, we would rather delay by a few months than crunch or deliver a product we aren't satisfied with. I just wanted to be sure we'd have that full year to add content to the game and give us a good runway to get the game going on strong footing. If for some reason we stay in Early Access past a year, we can release that version on Steam and continue EA as needed. The chance of that period being extended for any reason is effectively zero. Everyone has made it very clear how they feel about the existing exclusivity. We have no plans to extend the exclusivity period beyond the first year of Early Access, and that's not something that I would even entertain the possibility of changing at this point. If they keep their word, we should see a steam release(or EA) by mid Nov. If they have to extend early access, then they will release on steam as EA and continue from there. It has also been confirmed in the following thread that they will release on steam 1 year from the start of early access on EPIC regardless of whether early access is finished by then.
